Friday 23rd Mar.2012 – ski and open air swimming **** sunny and mild
Just to complete yesterday over to our favourite K-Bar for a beer and Wi-Fi
even managed to upload some pics to Facebook :) Checked emails find out the
man I bought the Fanatic Cat from off eBay has agreed to hold onto until
June when we return to the UK!!! What a star :) that’s worth a bottle of
wine at least!!! Also discovered that my little eBay bargain camera has
died :( it still takes pictures but the screen doesn’t work, must have
got some snow in it :( I hung it over a radiator all night with no
success!!! After yesterday’s early start and bad snow we decided to have
a lay in and give the icy piste a miss, Mag even had time to walk to the
shop for bread and croissants for breakfast which we ate in the sun on our
patio :) We were on the lift at eleven in bright sunshine and very mild and
wished we had left our coats at the apartment! Skied as yesterday down the
skier cross first tried going fast around the bends hit a big jump which I
somehow landed only to end up flat on my back on the next!!!! we even had a
couple of runs down the kids timed speed run and I smashed my previous
record with over 49k :) Mag being one of the few skiers to ski S’s down
the run and still managed 36.5! :) The snow held up well for a couple of
hours before turning to mush:( it was like skiing in treacle in the end
making it very tiring on the legs, can’t see this and many of the lower
resorts making it to the end of the season !!! needs to cool off and snow
but it is so’ooooooooooo warm. The Giant slalom competition was over so
we went to the top in the bubble and skied the whole length of the Olypique
Hommes black and great fun it was to :) It was then back to yesterday’s
bird watching spot for our picnic – the off-piste is now all but
unskiable :( We decided to call it a day and were back to the apartment by
about two, after a cuppa and a read with some dozing we headed to the pool
and managed 40 lengths despite being busy today and a group of German lads
throwing each other high in the air and kids swimming in your way – God I
sound like a grumpy old man!!!! I have managed to get our van a bit closer
to the apartment to make it easier to load tomorrow but we still have a day
left on our free lift pass so hope to get a couple of hours in
tomorrow:)
Now discovered that the camera damage was not water but the screen was
knocked with my tripod when in the rucksack :( I feel e bay calling when we
get home as we have just bought a whizzy battery charger to go with it so
need something to use the batteries on :)
